Kim Updegrove honored by American College of Nurse-Midwives

Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin’s is proud to recognize Kim Updegrove, our executive director since 2010, on her selection as a 2021 Fellow of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). The induction ceremony took place during the association’s virtual annual meeting on May 23.

“Fellowship in the American College of Nurse-Midwives is an honor bestowed upon those midwives whose demonstrated leadership within ACNM, clinical excellence, outstanding scholarship, and professional achievement have merited special recognition both within and outside of the midwifery profession.”

Kim has devoted her career to direct care, education, research, service leadership, and advocacy for women’s and children’s health — as a Certified Nurse-Midwife, faculty member at Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania, milk bank leader, and principal liaison between nurse-midwifery and the nonprofit milk banking industry. Past president of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America and chair of HMBANA’s standards committee, Kim has delivered over 100 presentations and consulted on milk banking in the U.S. and abroad. Annually she joins a team of nursing faculty and students who provide pro bono healthcare in Belize.
