Who We Are

Mothers’ Milk Bank Austin (MMBA) is a nonprofit founded in 1999 to save the lives of babies through the dispensing of prescribed, pasteurized donor breast milk. MMBA has many active programs, including a milk processing lab, a recipient family and hospital community, volunteers, milk donors and ambassadors, community education initiatives, and more.

 

Milk Processing Technician

The Milk Processing Technician supports all functions of milk processing. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, tenacious and enjoys working in a fast-paced work environment. Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin is the largest milk bank in the world – we are looking for a team member who is excited and proud to join an organization with a long history of quality and leadership in the breastfeeding community.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and performs all tasks related to daily milk processing including thawing, straining, homogenizing, bottling, and labeling of Donor Human Milk.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the regulatory standards that govern those processes.
  • Maintains proper documentation of those processes.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary milk processing environment.
  • Works as a member of the lab team to complete daily objectives.
  • Serve as a visible spokesperson and advocate for MMBA’s mission and program in the Austin community and beyond.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to acquire Texas Food Handler’s License within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to acquire HIPAA certification within 30 days of employment.

Additional Details

Position Type: Part-time, non-exempt
Reports to: Milk Processing Manager and Senior Milk Processing Tech Team Leads
Schedule: Flexible options within normal working hours Monday-Friday, 9-5.
Approximately 25 hours.
Location: This job is in-person and occurs in our office at 5925 Dillard Circle, Austin TX
